The Lehman Trilogy
A sweeping epic that traces generations, The Lehman Trilogy garnered much deserved critical acclaim during its sell-out season at the Lyttelton Theatre. Its transfer to the West End’s Piccadilly Theatre means another chance to catch this important play. Written by Italian playwright Stefano Massini and adapted by Ben Power, this is the story of three brothers and their dream of a better life in 1844 New York. Together they lay the foundation for the financial firm the world would come to know as Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc, which goes on to acquire enormous influence and power. Decades later, the firm’s eventual downfall leads to the crash of 2008, which reverberates around the globe. Sam Mendes directs the stellar cast, which comprises Simon Russell Beale, Adam Godley and Ben Miles. Ambitious set design from Es Devlin fits this poetic, expansive piece of theatre. An engaging true tale of the monumental rise and devastating fall of an empire, The Lehman Trilogy boasts no shortage of rave reviews. The production runs from May 2019 for a strictly limited 12-week run.
